Temps warming into the 70s at the beginning of the week, after a taste of cold before that. Then, a little rain and BOOM bye bye leaves. Currently, 32 degrees with occasional flurries. Neat. Guess we couldn't skip winter altogether, bummer. I can't quite believe everything that has happened in a week's time. I don't know if my head/body has completely processed it all: 2 nights of Halloween, 1 life cut short at age 22, 1 vote for a winning presidential candidate, 4 seasons. I did some therapy for myself by rearranging the 2nd bedroom/office/workout room and cleaning it like crazy. I'm so happy with the change, hopefully it will help me sort through the jumble in my brain as well.
During my extreme bedroom reorganization, I was walking by the window when this mass came flying towards me and crashed into the glass with an explosion of feathers. I almost fainted, but when I caught my breath I began scanning the ground for survivors. There were more feathers whirling about than snow and I was starting to fear the worst. Then I saw the bird, a bigger bird, grey in color, that I first assumed was some pigeon or dove, but the seriousness of his facial structure made me think he was possibly a young hawk. He started to wriggle around and I wondered if he injured a foot, then the form in his feet appeared from amongst the leaves on the ground. I'm pretty sure it was a smaller bird! We exchanged a few more gazes, mine puzzled, his somehow guilty, and then he took of with his prize in his feet. I'm not sure what to think of that...
